Most people put off moving a website because they are frightened of what breaks. Here is exactly what I do about each of those fears.
- Your email keeps working. Mail records are copied and tested before the switch, never after.
- No visible downtime. The new site is built and signed off before anything points at it.
- Your search rankings carry over. Old addresses are redirected permanently, not dropped.
- Nothing is lost. A full copy of the old site is kept off the server before a single file moves.
- Your domain stays yours. It moves with you whenever you want it to, without asking me.

For comparison, a freelance-built small business site in 2026 typically runs $1,500 to $8,000, and basic care plans run $50 to $150 a month. Consultation is $95 an hour, with no obligation to hire me afterwards. Rescue and migration work is quoted once I have seen what is actually there.

You see a complete design of your home page before any invoice is due. If it is not right and you would rather walk away, you walk away owing nothing, and you keep the conversation we had about your business.
Hosting works the same way. Thirty days, and if it is not for you I hand over your files and refund the month.

- Let's Encrypt, issued and renewed automatically. Included, never an upsell.

- One-click WordPress, kept on current versions with automatic updates switched on.
- Mailboxes on your own domain, or your existing mail left exactly where it is. Moving a website does not have to mean moving your email.
- Isolation
- One site per account. Your files, databases and mail never share space with another client's site.

- Configured and copied off the server, so a backup still exists if the server does not.

- Registered in your name, in your own account wherever possible. You never need my permission to move.

How long does a website take?
A starter site is usually two to three weeks. A business site with a CMS is four to six. The single biggest delay on every project I have done is waiting on content from the client, so if your text and photos are ready, it moves faster.
Why are you cheaper than an agency?
Because there is one of me. No account manager, no project manager, no office lease, no sales commission. The same money buys more actual building. What you give up is scale, so if you need a team of twelve on a platform rebuild, hire an agency, and I will tell you that on the first call.
Do I have to host with you?
No. I will build your site and hand it to whatever host you like. Hosting with me means I am watching it and small fixes are included, but it has never been a condition of the build, and I will not hold your files to make you stay.
Who owns the domain and the site?
You do. Wherever possible I register your domain in your own account on your own card, so it can never get tangled up with me. The files, the database and the logins are yours on request, at any point, without a conversation about it.
Will you break my email when you move my site?
No, and it is worth asking every developer you speak to. Moving a website means moving DNS, and mail records travel with it. I copy your existing mail records across and test them before the switch, so your mail keeps arriving exactly where it does today.
What happens after launch?
Small changes are included in the monthly hosting and care plan. Larger pieces get quoted the same way the original build did, in writing at a fixed price. You will never get an open-ended invoice from me.
Can you fix a site somebody else built?
Usually yes, and it is a good part of what I do. I look at what is actually there first and tell you honestly whether repairing or rebuilding is the better use of your money. Sometimes the answer is repair, and that is the smaller invoice for me.
What if you are unavailable?
A fair question for a one-person studio, and I would rather answer it than dodge it. Your domain is in your name, your files are backed up off the server, and you hold every login. If I vanished tomorrow another developer could pick your site up without needing a thing from me.
